How do you continue on when your world changes in one night?
First, I apologize for the long ass delay. A couple of months ago, my best friend died. And then literally a day later, I was in the hospital with the flu. Needless to say, I’ve put pause on EVERYTHING and I’m just now starting to get back into the flow of things.
First, I must apologize for the long delay in my postings—recently I had a bout of bronchitis (that I really think started out as allergies but then mutated!) I took a quick trip to the hospital on Black Friday and surprisingly, didn’t stay too long thankfully. After a check to make sure it wasn’t pneumonia, I was given meds and a nebulizer treatment—which I must say really helped clear things up! I’ve never had a treatment before, though I’ve been asthmatic since I was 19.
This started out as an Instagram post, but the more I typed out I realized that this needed to be a blog post.
I know it’s been a minute since my last post but the school year has started and this means coming home exhausted and passing out. For those who don’t know, my day-job is a preschool teacher. The pay is ok but the schedule is very flexible so it works for my acting and writing schedule right now.
My kids are 2- and 3-years old so they’re getting used to the idea that school isn’t a bad place, and that mommy and daddy come back. But anyways, I just wanted to post quickly to say that if you’re in Baltimore, check out the Baltimore Book Festival and the Baltimore Comic Con this weekend. I’ll be around at the book festival, and I’ve got tickets to the opening of Charm Kitty Café so I’m excited about that.
Starting tomorrow, I’ll be doing another week of reposts on my Instagram, so check that out.
It’s already Labor Day?! Guys, is it just me or is 2017 in a hurry to be done? Not that I’m complaining… (see: Brexit, cholera outbreak in Yemen, US 2016 Presidential Elections, Hurricane Harvey, etc.) But I am kinda excited to see what 2018 will hold.
(Hopefully some elected officials with some common fucking sense in this country.)
Hey guys! Shameless plug here but I’ve received some new followers to the blog. Welcome and cake is over on the long table. Below is where you can find me on social media:
Oh my gosh, it’s good to be back! It’s been a minute, and I’ve had some things to catch up on since my last computer died.
Still miffed at Apple for fucking up the [non] service on my last computer, but thank God I’ve got some really great grandparents who were able to help me out with a new computer—blogging from your phone is not the business, just FYI. Great in a pinch, but that’s it.
My MacBook is doing something… special. I’ve no idea what it is and have zero idea of how to fix it.
*sigh* I’ve gotta wait now until someone I know I’d awake because Google was no help.
(This is what happens when you write at night– everyone else is sleeping.)
God willing it can be fixed because I’m not gonna be happy if I’m hit with “You need a new computer.” I’m not EVEN gonna touch on if my manuscript is now lost…
Yall pray for me.
I’m really not sure if this is a small step, or a mid-size one, but I’ve finally outlined the story for my children’s picture book!
I’ve had an idea for a kid’s story involving my dog, and while I was working on that, this other story came to mind about a little boy and that idea just took off! So I followed and made it a goal for this month to sit and outline the story and its characters. After using most of my writing day to handle #reallife challenges, I finally had some time tonight and I’m so happy it’s done!
(I need to stop doing that. Writing day is for writing only– real life can wait an extra day. Except if it’s a crisis, then it’s ok.)
I don’t care how dorky it may seem, I’m celebrating every step– no matter how small or large– of this endeavor. And my work’s not done yet– gotta tighten up the script, storyboard, and then I’ll check to see what’s next.
Speaking of monthly goals, I still have 4 more chapters of my novel to write in 5 days… ugh! But we’ll see, maybe it can be done. If not, I’ll just have to write 6 chapters next month.
It never ends, and I love it!
