[AiW] Sunday night coughing…

Hey folks!

Just checking in with you guys with another semi-life update.

I’m currently battling a cold—haven’t had one of those in a WHILE—so I’ve taken the liberty of staying in my room all weekend. This did me some good because though I’m still coughing up my spleen when the Mucinex wears off, I’m feeling loads better than I was on Friday.

On Friday, I thought I had strep. I could hardly talk and my throat felt that it was filled with fire and gravel. Swallowing just made everything feel worse, and I was stuck on the other side of town during rush-hour traffic with one more stop to make before I could head home.

But I stayed in bed and stayed drugged all weekend and forced myself to enjoy the break. I really needed the break so I’m glad I’d cancelled all of my weekend plans so I could stay home.

A nice, warm shower feels AMAZING when you’re sick.

As for writing, I’m still working out the kinks in my newest manuscript before I send it off for notes. I’ve finally wrote out that last scene that I’d needed and now it’s being tied altogether. The plan is to map out and write the second part while this draft is out for notes.

Is anyone doing NaNoWriMo this year? Normally I do it, but I think this year, I’ve got a lot on my plate so I’m not going to do the challenge again this year. If you’re doing it and need some tips, drop me a note and I’ll see if I can help out.

Speaking of writers, I encourage everyone to read up on what happened with Chuck Wendig over the past few days. While Marvel can hire and fire whomever they choose, I think it’s absolute bullshit that he’s fired for speaking the truth with vulgarity.

Apparently, that is what got on their tits the most—his use of language towards those who harass him daily. That he wasn’t being civil to those who literally sent him death threats.

I sent my own tweet about it being bullshit.

(Let’s be real– they get millions of mentions so they’ll more than likely never see my tweet but I wanted to say it)

Yeah, I may end up as an employee of theirs one day and would already kill my chances, but you know what? I refuse to tow the fucking line in the face of unfairness. And if that’s how my employer would treat someone, I wouldn’t want to work for them in the first place.

My theme for the past couple of weeks is recharging and comfort. My therapist encouraged me to go back to things that used to bring me joy, so I’ve taken up piano lessons. It’s tough, but I’m really having fun with it, and it’ll help me be a better vocalist when I go back to singing—after I recover from this cold and get my asthma back under control.

Thank you for tuning in for this late-night entry, and hope you guys have an awesome start to your week!
