#writerWednesday– One small step!

I’m really not sure if this is a small step, or a mid-size one, but I’ve finally outlined the story for my children’s picture book!

I’ve had an idea for a kid’s story involving my dog, and while I was working on that, this other story came to mind about a little boy and that idea just took off! So I followed and made it a goal for this month to sit and outline the story and its characters. After using most of my writing day to handle #reallife challenges, I finally had some time tonight and I’m so happy it’s done!

(I need to stop doing that. Writing day is for writing only– real life can wait an extra day. Except if it’s a crisis, then it’s ok.)

I don’t care how dorky it may seem, I’m celebrating every step– no matter how small or large– of this endeavor. And my work’s not done yet– gotta tighten up the script, storyboard, and then I’ll check to see what’s next.

Speaking of monthly goals, I still have 4 more chapters of my novel to write in 5 days… ugh! But we’ll see, maybe it can be done. If not, I’ll just have to write 6 chapters next month.

It never ends, and I love it!

What are 3 thoughts that made you smile today?

Mine are:

  1. I’ve already completed my reading goal for this month. I may read more– more than likely I will– when I’m done with my writing assignments this month.
  2. A new idea for a spec script came to mind yesterday and I’m excited to flesh it out. I don’t anticipate that the script will go anywhere– it’ll be a spec. But I’m just excited to craft something that I wish I could’ve seen on tv.
  3. Just got word that I’m expecting a visitor next week and I’m über excited!
